As my sister approached her 30th birthday, we brainstormed different things to celebrate. She had mentioned she would like somewhere warm, on the water, with a dietary wellness program, meditating, yoga, surfing, organic foods, and cheap... yeah okay! Most retreats and wellness resorts are -although completely amazing looking- extremely pricey. I had researched and researched, until after she said no to a few ideas, I said, " you tell me where and what we are doing!" Of course my gypsy-side continued wanderlusting and stumbled across ...Buena Vista Surf Club.
Buena Vista Surf Club at night.
Five minute walk to Playa Maderas.
Buena Vista Surf Club.
Buena Vista Surf Club is step out of the busy fast life and a step into a peaceful thick of trees on a large hill. With wild monkeys howling, beautiful blue birds, adorable chipmunks, and hairy tarantulas, this space connects with the nature of Nicaragua. The hill that the 6 tree houses and main lobby rests on allows a breath-taking view of the pacific ocean. Owned by a swedish couple who ... All the lumber, love, and sweat to build this space was with local materials and local workers. Offering morning yoga classes on a amazing deck overlooking the ocean. Additionally offering surf lessons at ---- beach, which is a 5 minute walk down the hill and past local homes- including women washing children in tin tubs, men resting in chairs out front, chicken strutting wild, and beautiful floral. Included in your stay at BVSC, you are given the mostly delightful breakfast in the morning, including fresh local fruit juice, coffee, tea, water, homemade bread, variety of different spreads/jellies, yogurt, fresh exotic fruits, granola, crepes, and varies between other delicious options. As if that amazing include breakfast wasn't enough, an incredible local dinner is also included in your stay. Each night was something different- chicken... Their karma system of a help yourself bar service allows visitors to grab whatever beverages they would like and tally your own tab. The staff are knowledgable and typical working in return for housing. They are the people you go to for information, you yoga or surf instructors, as well as your chefs. The tree houses themselves are amazing. Like every childs best dream. With slated shutter like wall panels, the breeze flows through the space and provide no worries about not having air condition. There are locks for safety. Nets for any friendly insects. No hot water feels different at first, but gives you a refreshing and revitalizing shower that makes you feel more connected with the space. I highly reccommend BVSC. This is a place of love, a place of peace, a place of nature and a place of culture.
